Miami-Dade Recognizes Sherry Giordano, ITWomen Exec. Dir.

MIAMI, March 7, 2011  – Sherry Thompson Giordano, Executive Director of IT Women, will be honored for her contributions to Miami-Dade residents at the 23rd Annual In the Company of Women Awards Celebration on Thursday, March 31, from 6-9 p.m., at the Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables.
The Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department (MDPR) and the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women will recognize Ms. Giordano and eleven other honorees at the  cocktail reception and awards ceremony in celebration of Women’s History Month.

Ms. Giordano was selected for her longstanding contributions and leadership in Science and Technology. Ms. Giordano has played a pivotal role in ITWomen’s programs to encourage and guide young women into technology careers, most notably with ITWomen’s Role Models Speaker (RMS) program for girls 8 to 18.
This is the second time in the past year that the Miami-Dade community has recognized ITWomen leaders for helping girls and women. Women’s History Coalition of Miami-Dade County, Inc., honored founder and president Victoria Usherenko as a Woman of Impact in 2010.
