More Female CIOs Join the Game
DANIA BEACH, FL – October 30, 2011 – ITWomen will hold a CIO Celebrity Poker Tournament & Casino Night, 8th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser, on Thursday, November 17, at the Sheraton Ft. Lauderdale Airport Hotel in Dania Beach, Florida. The event will benefit the non-profit ITWomen Charitable Foundation’s scholarship program, which helps South Florida girls pursue college degrees in technology and engineering fields.
For the first time, women will make up a third of the ‘Celebrity CIOs’ playing poker at the Texas Hold’em tournament. Scholarship donors will compete for luxury prizes at the CIO poker tables. The fundraiser includes casino-style games, gourmet dinner stations, chocolate and dessert bars, jazz, and a VIP reception hosted by CIO Executive Council. Since 2004, ITWomen has provided $200,000 for 48 four-year renewable scholarships for local female high school seniors. “The IT and business communities have shown great support for our mission to increase the number of girls in technology and engineering,” said ITWomen president Victoria Usherenko, adding, “Economic studies show a critical need to attract and retain more women to meet future demand for technology growth and innovation.”
Fundraiser sponsors include Citrix, TekPartners, Kaplan, Ernst&Young (EY), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), KSTData, the CIO Executive Council, Steven Douglas Associates, AAJ Technologies, ADT, Momentum Consulting Corp, BrightLine, KPMG, AutoNation Maroone and Google.
