DANIA BEACH – 2015 – Over $55,000 was raised for college scholarships at the 2015 ITWomen’s Celebrity CIO Poker Tournament and Casino Night, thanks to fantastic support from the tech community. You made 2015 a milestone year! Total ITWomen Scholarship funds raised to date have now surpassed $500,000. The excitement was building for weeks with 25 CIOs signed up for the tournament, dozens of sponsors and nearly 200 persons registered for our 12th Annual Scholarship fundraiser on Nov. 19, 2015.
ITWomen President Claire Marrero recognized Sharon Moura, Vice President, VP IT Strategy & Transformation and Commercial Excellence, Tyco, and ITWomen Advisory Board Member, during the VIP reception, with ITWomen’s first “Woman of Wonder” award. Sharon was recognized for her outstanding fundraising and partner development.
Madisen Farley, Citrix User Experience Analyst intern and Internet Technology and Business student at Columbia College, Chicago, was recognized as our 2015 “Woman to Watch” for her initiative and leadership in producing video interviews of the 2015 scholarship winners, and an ITWomen video promoting the rewards of a career in technology. Top 2015 Prize Winners
The 2015 Texas Hold’em Tournament was intense as players at four tables whittled down one by one. Joe Kissel, BankUnited CIO, took the first place trophy along with the grand tournament prize of a luxury cruise donated by Royal Caribbean Cruises. Daniel Castenada of Kwan Technologies placed second, followed by Pablo Vitaver of Vitaver Staffing. Placing first among players for the Casino Night games was Barbara Jones, independent consultant, Steven Douglas. Barbara won 1 week of resort accommodations donated by Interval International Leisure Group. The winner of the Grand Raffle Prize is Joanne Barone of IBM. Joanne won a luxury 6 or 8-day cruise in an ocean view cabin aboard the Carnival Conquest, donated by the Carnival Foundation.*
