Victoria Carlos Pays It Forward Promoting STEM K-12 for USF Engineering Expo
Victoria Carlos, one of our amazing 2015 Scholarship winners, is already paying it forward.
Victoria is attending the University of South Florida in part on a four-year scholarship from the ITWomen Foundation to pursue her B.S. in Computer Science.
She has volunteered to recruit sponsors for USF’s student-run Engineering Expo for students K-12, Feb. 17-18, 2017.
“It’s an exciting and driven event that looks forward to promoting and educates the beauties and wonders of STEM to our youth, my generation and the experienced community,” says Victoria, who is serving as the Expo’s Assistant Director of Corporate Sponsors.
The Expo is a free event and will give students a chance to talk with Tampa Bay’s local engineers and engineering student organizations at USF.
Victoria has reached out to her “wonderful ITWomen mentor” and her ITWomen support network to help her spread the word.
“I’m delighted to hear that you are busy paying it forward in a leadership position to help spread the joy of STEM,” ITWomen President Claire Marrero responded, pledging a contribution from ITWomen to the Expo. She also invited Victoria to reach out to ITWomen Board member Therese Williams. Therese is leading ITWomen’s efforts in Tampa Bay and recruiting volunteers from across the Tech industry as role model speakers.
ITWomen members, supporters and programs help pay it forward to the next woman and the next generation in Tech in so many ways, from our scholarship alumni network to our role models in the classroom and robotics camps.
Thank you for paying it forward, Victoria.
